Vince O'Brien (January 11, 1919 - June 19, 2010) was a character actor who played Lt. Dan Riley and Sheriff George Patterson in the original Dark Shadows.
After Dark Shadows O'Brien appeared in Woody Allen's Annie Hall as a doctor, and he played the Shell Answer Man in print and TV commericals from the late 60s through the 70s.
