  • Hey I just wanted to thank you for helping phase out the old sidebar template and formatting all the OS episodes. Needless to say MissLizaMay and I work at a snail's pace in comparison.

I was hoping you'd return as a regular editor. It's nice to have another user that can do some heavy lifting in terms organization and formatting. I was wondering if you could help me finish creating image categories for the episode pages with images. It's taking forever by myself and you seem to be the only other user here that can comprehend advanced wiki organization, templates and stuff.

    • Not a problem, happy to help out. The principal looks simple enough. I'll give it a go and see what results I get.

    • I think you are stuck in the visual editor setting. Have you tried fiddling with your user preferences yet? Go to the Editing section and uncheck Enable visual editor.

    • I didn't know it could be turned off, I've done that now, thanks for letting me know. Was it showing up as a problem?

I've finished catagorising the images in first 200 episode pages.

    • Well it creates a problem in a sense of communication. Users stuck in the visual editor are kind of blind in a way. What may look normal in the visual editor could leave weird coding hiccups or spacing issues they can't even see.

You're fast! Remember to categorize those categories as Episode images.

    • I see, truth be told, after the first few I'd been manually switching with each page to the source code editor in order to prevent those very things you mention. At least from now on it will save me from having to do that.

Will do on categorizing the categories, hadn't considered that.

    • You've been listing the links at the top of these pages like this:

      105

      Rather than:

      105

Is this how you'd prefer it to look? Can we compromise with this:

      105

    • I think the second one down is best, so no need for compromise. Looking at the code I can see that I've missed out the "==" marks to signify 'level 2 headline' text.

Shouldn't take much effort to add it in, I'll go through them now, glad you noticed it before I started on any more cat. pages.

    • Hi Claude and Phantom,

I had trouuble last night adding a second image to episode 185 and Claude fixed it this morning. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to add that image properly. With normal websites or Wikipedia, one uploads an image and then, at least in the source editing page, indicates the image file name in the right place and the photo renders properly.

Exactly what did I do wrong? I have some good images that capture the essence of some episodes better than the one image already shown. In episode 185, for instance, Dr. Guthrie gets killed by Laura but the one photo just showed the seance in the Old House. But I'm confused on how to upload a photo and make it the Bottom Image.

    • Maybe my only problem was that, instead of just the image file name, I wrote:

      [[File:185ads.PNG|thumb]]

You simply deleted the text in red above and everything was fine?

Or was there a more complicated process such as moving the image to a different folder first?

        Loading editor
    • That's correct. The only piece of information required in the field is the file name, so that it looks something like this:

      bottomimage=185ads.PNG
