I think it's good that the Wiki has an article on smoking, because it was a common habit at the time.  And in a sense, it tells us something about the characters--they may tend to smoke when they are anxious, for example.  In the case of Sam Evans, who smokes both cigarettes and a pipe (which looks to me like an old Kaywoodie), the pipe makes him seem more scholarly, artistic, and generally "wise." However, I think we should revise the article so that it doesn't preach; sure, smoking is a bad habit, but it's really just part of late 1960's culture. So saying that it's "horrid," to me, seems a bit un-historical. I'm for maintaining a high level of intellectual honesty. Hope this remark doesn't offend.  I'm not just going to re-write the article without asking respectfully for others' opinions, which is why I'm writing this talk page. Thanks to all who have already contributed to the original article!

Whoever did the edit, nice going!  I totally agree with you--the other version was just some person's moral opinion rather than a solid article.Jeff0253 (talk) 00:09, June 13, 2015 (UTC)Jeff0253

Yes. I also agree.   Trying to impose 21st Century morality on a TV show from the 1960s is ridiculous. Jtrue52 (talk) 01:03, June 13, 2015 (UTC)
