Robert Gerringer (May 12th 1926 – November 8th 1989) was an American actor who played the role of Dr. David Woodard on the original Dark Shadows. Robert was the second actor to portray the character, replacing actor Richard Woods. He would not be the last Dave Woodard though. On October 3, 1967, Robert refused to work during the NABET strike (alongside Daniel Keyes ) and the character was recast with Peter Turgeon (as of episode 335). Robert appeared in 28 episodes of Dark Shadows altogether.
Robert Gerringer passed away from a stroke in 1989 at the age of 63.
