Hi, my name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wikia Content Development Team. As you may have seen on many wikis such as Call of Duty, there is a new module for the right hand column that displays related videos to the Wiki. This is a new feature that we want to place on your wiki, would you be cool with allowing this? The module can be seen on any page, here is an example .
I think its great how Claude North has restored the arrow links on the episode pages but it seems that the use of episode sidebar templates has resulted in the loss of the captions under the pictures. These captions are stored in the history of each page. Do these episode sidebar templates allow for the insertion of the missing captions? I have tried several stabs at attempting this but cannot figure the html necessary to achieve this goal. Hopefully there is a way to add the captions. If so, I would be more than happy to help restore the captions.
I'm afraid there's a price to pay for everything. The original template that I used allowed for both the arrows and captions, but it took up far too much space and I did make the executive decision to go with the template that did away with captions. I think it made everything cleaner, and easier to load. Perhaps that was wrong of me, but I was of the opinion that the captions were adding little to the pages (it took a lot of time for me to add both pics AND captions) and most of the pics were without captions anyway. If we wish to add additional pictures besides the two in the template, it's easy to add captions to those. Again I apologize, but I made the best decision I could given the circumstances.
I noticed the forward and back arrows were removed from the episode pages that allow one to link to the previous or next episode. Do you know why they were removed and is there any chance for these arrows to be restored?
Good hearing from you on You Tube.
It took me a little while to figure it out, but someone has been using the template "Sidebar" instead of "Sidebar Episode." Sidebar Episode puts the arrows at the top of the episode box and is the correct one to use. This may take awhile to fix...
Thanks, MisslLizaMay, for looking into this issue. I can well imagine this situation may take quite some time to resolve. These new templates make adding pictures and captions quite an ordeal. Each episode seems to require the creation of an accompanying "category page" in order to display the correct number of images displayed for the episode. To me, this seems to add a lot of unnecessary work that adds little to the quality of this wiki. These complexities seem counter-productive and would tend to discourage many would- be contributors from attempting to add content.. Again, thanks for looking int this matter.
Hi, when I recently created the remaining episode pages that didn't yet exist, I was unsure which to use, but ended up using 'Sidebar' as that was the one that seemed to be used the most of the other episode pages that already existed.
If 'Sidebar Episode' is the preferred option I'll have a go at changing some later today.
