Martinique is an island in the Carribbean Sea colonized by the French in 1635. In 1792, Barnabas Collins traveled to Martinique where he fell in love with a French noblewoman named Josette DuPres. During their courtship on Martinique, Barnabas had an affair with Josette’s handmaid, Angelique Bouchard. Barnabas and Josette left Martinique late in the year with plans on getting married within the next few years.
