Johnny Depp (born 9 June 1963) portrays Barnabas Collins in the 2012 feature-length motion picture adaptation of Dark Shadows. In 2008, Depp's production company had acquired the rights to make the film, which was directed by Tim Burton and released in May, 2012. Depp is an American-born actor (residing in France) and a self-described fan of the original Dark Shadows TV series.
Prior to his pivotal role in the 2012 film, Depp appeared with Kathryn Leigh Scott in an episode of 21 Jump Street in which she guest-starred as a lesbian High School Principal in the closet.
