Jane Ackerman was a young woman that lived in Collinsport, Maine in the 1960s. One evening in 1967, a mysterious stranger attacked Jane on the road leading into town. Jane managed to escape but was unable to identify her attacker. News of the attack spread quickly. When Joe Haskell learned about it, he rushed to the Collinsport Inn to tell Maggie Evans what had happened.

- Although it is never stated outright, it is implied that Barnabas Collins or Willie Loomis may have attacked Jane Ackerman. Barnabas may have attacked Jane shortly before stopping at the Collinsport Inn, or he may have forced Willie to attack her on his behalf.
