George Mitchell (February 21, 1905 – January 18, 1972) played Matthew Morgan on the original Dark Shadows for the character's first three appearances. He was replaced by Thayer David.
Mitchell was a character actor with extensive credits in film and television. Some of his films include Kid Galahad, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, The Andromeda Strain, and Nevada Smith. He appeared on numerous television shows such as Gunsmoke, Have Gun - Will Travel, Perry Mason, Twilight Zone, and Death Valley Days.
