Carolyn Stoddard was the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. She was born in the family mansion known as Collinwood, shortly before the strange disappearance of her father.

During the summer of 1967, Carolyn accepted a job working in a gift shop in Bar Harbor, Maine. She didn’t need the work, or the money, but the job offered the opportunity to get away from the dreariness of life at Collinwood.
