I've been working on a Horror Time-Line for a while placing events from my favorite horror movies into a historical sequence by date. Recently, I posted it to my website (don't worry, I won't ask you to go see it), and I thought I'd add the events from "Dark Shadows" and "Kolchak: The Night Stalker." For "DS," I didn't want to use the airdates as physical dates because several episodes are supposedly occurring in the same day, which condenses the series a bunch. Fortunately, the DS Wikia has a daily timeline of the events in the series, and that's where I started.
Victoria's arrival - I first placed this on June 27, 1966, but this interfered with the October 26, 1967 as indicated in Episode 189. Using that date and working backward, Victori…
After being a fan of this in the original time period of the 60’s and 70’s I would always rush home from school to watch because of it being so different ... But now I can see after watching it again on Amazon WHY it lost ratings after awhile! During the season of the creation of ADAM/Frankenstein episodes, it is the most boring season of the whole Dark Shadows years!
Hi, I just finished watching all of "The Beginning" episodes on Amazon Video. I started the new series (on Amazon) that is in color and at the Old House (with Josette). I loved the beautiful black and white, with my favorite character, Elizabeth Stoddard. I find that I (so far) don't really care for the new storyline, and the Matthew character who died in the first part is back. I hated that character.
Also, TV was still in the phase of changing to color where they hadn't figured out not to use the heavy, theater pancake makeup.
I would love to know... how long is the shift into the past? How many episodes? Does it shift back and forth? Every time I peek into Wikipedia for some information I encounter some wonderful plot details that are spo…
Long time creeper first time poster ;)
So this popped up on my Dark Shadows google alerts right now. Lost studio copy of episode 149? The seller's in my same town I kind of want to see it but I can't afford what they're asking. Thoughts?
Gosh... why did this person keep editing my personal addtive editorials to Dark Shadows? Hmm...well... maybe it's because you rely on BS culty behaviour and some of us are well grounded, solid GEEKS!
I am, personally, about facts, and information. And if you can't handle that? Go to Facebook! That will give you all the bogosity you require!
interview with fellow fan
Decades TV is playing Dark Shadows all weekend long! It started at 1 pm EST with Episode 251.
Here's a link to the Decades site featuring this article.:
I am new to the Dark Shadows fandom. I'm JC and I'm from Miami, Florida.
This is my friendly suggestion blog to other newbies out there...do yourself a huge favor and start your Dark Shadows journey with episode 1. I will tell you why.
I was lured to Dark Shadows, sadly, when Jonathan Frid passed away and this led me to check out the Dark Shadows episodes that Netflix had at the time, of course to see what the big deal was with this Barnabas vampire guy and what-not. I started with episode 206 , this may have been the earliest episode that Netflix offered but I could be wrong about this. Whatever the case was, Netflix decided to discontinue offering Dark Shadows and I had only made it to episode 215 or 216 by the time it was no longer availa…
Greetings DS fans, this is John Reid speaking. Some of you may remember me by my previous pen name Simon Magus. I am trying to reconnect with my old members and any new members of course. My old site The Dark Shadows of Simon Magus was closed down when Multiply went out of business. That was the second time that happened to me. Originally I was on MSN groups site until that closed down as well. So I have been searching and searching for a place to put my fan fiction that I would not have to worry about closing down on me and it finally occurred to me that Facebook was the perfect spot. So I have started all over once again. I have 2 tales completed and many many many more to come. The first is my Dark Shadows/Kolchak the Night Stalker Cros…

Hello fellow Dark Shadows fans!
If you are here reading this, then I can tell that we already share a similar passion, that is – Dark Shadows – and possibly even the love of writing . . . or at least reading! I, Amy, originally decided to pursue my passion and open my own Role Playing forum back in March of 2009, with, what was then, a simple, small site. There were a few avid writers that joined in the first year, which was when the site reached its peak. Since then, however, it has been much to my displeasure, that the site has lessened in popularity, perhaps because it is based off of the original Dark Shadows, and not that from 1991 or 2012.
Currently, I, along with my dear friend and fellow administrator, Cecillia, have transformed …
My name is Susan Bartelt. I was 12 years old when Dark Shadows started and 17 when it ended. Now, I am 59 years old and will be 60 on July 15, 2014. My oldest son is 29, my grandson is 3, my 2nd son is 27, and my daughter is 16. I was one of those teens who used to run home from school to see the show(lol). It was so long ago! I'm still grieving over the fact that Julia and Barnabas never got together!# I don't think I'll ever get over it! Reading Sam Hall's epiloge just was not the same as it would have been to actually see Grayson Hall and Jonathan Frid act it out. They had such wonderful onscreen chemistry! I'll never understand why the powers that be wasted the air time that was left on that God-awful 1940/41 paralletl time s…
If you like Willie Loomis, check out this fanfiction. It's a 6-part series that tells the whole story. Sort of. It's at Fanfiction.net and LiveJournal. The titles are Little Willie, Globetrotters, The Maine Event, Changes, This Old House and Interlude. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/4240275/mad-margaret
Can someone please make a summary of all of Mrs. Johnson's parts in the 2012 film Dark Shdaows. I see a bunch of pages will whole summaries, and her page needs one. Please and Thank You. :D
For common moviegoers, as well as fans of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, Dark Shadows (the legendary duo's 8th collaboration), might provoke the "seen it" response. As in, Depp is bumbling around in white makeup in a visually stunning, gothic environment, again. For fans of the original Dark Shadows, this movie means a lot more than accusing Tim Burton of being too predictable. This is the moment we finally get to see what a high-budget, professionally made version of Barnabas Collins' story looks like, made by the best in the business.
Of course, most die hard fans of Jonathan Frid and the original show will probably hate the Hollywood remake, as they would. For those of you who remain undecided, check out the roundup of reviews below before …
Hopefully Depp won't disappoint his fans in the new Dark Shadows, which comes out May 11th, because he may be the most famous actor to take on the role of a vampire. Considering what it takes to pull off a true vampire legend, the man has big shoes to fill.
Besides the obvious (Jonathan Frid), the following list of actors have set the bar very high as vampires.
The Vampire (1913) was technically the cinema's first intr…
Thanks Barnabas, for making my life a little more fun. You not only are a memorable part of my childhood, but also a part of my ongoing life as I never grow tired of following your travails. Rest in peace Barnabas. Give my regards to those from Collinwood who went before you, who certainly must be joyous to see you once again. Rest in peace Jonathan. I'm going to miss you.
Hi I"m so excited to be here . I grew up watching Dark Shadows I was maybe 6 it was love a first bite, the first time I seen that House it started my love of old houses, I grew up allways wanting a three story brick house dreams do come true , I credit Jonathan Frid for that his beloved Collinwood threw the years I allways thought of him , My greatest thrill was I email him many years ago and told him what he did for me and he email me back I still have the email in a safe place my heart......
Sorry guys, I just moved and had absolutely no time to work on this lately, but I finally got unpacked and will be able to get more done. As always, feel free to send in any requests for screen grabs or if there are any favorite episodes that require attention. I'm trying to get at least 2 pics for every episode, but it may be awhile before I get to some of the later ones. Let me know what you need and I'll be happy to help. Cheers!
The new character posters for Dark Shadows are surprisingly...colorful? Different from Tim Burton's usual black-and-white style, these posters seem to have quite a bit of pigment pizzazz. And the big question is...does Johnny Depp look sexy...or creepy? Or just his usual combination of the two? So enjoy the images below. Will you be seeing Dark Shadows in theaters on May 11? Comment below and tell us!

We've seen him as Willy Wonka, and we've seen him as a pirate...naturally, playing a vampire is his next step.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are clearly working together again, if proven only by Depp's ghastly pale skin and dark circled eyes. Dark Shadows will be a film adaptation of the cult soap opera Dark Shadows which ran from 1966 to 1971. Get ready for Dark Shadows (2012) opening on May 11.
Take a look at the poster picture below and the exciting new trailer! Are you going to be seeing Dark Shadows in theaters? Comment below and tell us what you think!
This relates to very old news about the upcoming movie, but I just want to point something out that bugs me about it.
On September 22, Entertainment Weekly's site posted the Johnny Depp's true 'Dark Shadows' vampire revealed! -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK article, wriiten by Anthony Breznican. The top of that page has a link to our Barnabas Collins article, which is kinda nice, (except it looks like a lot of it is plagiarized from another site) but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is the hyper text on the link to DS Wiki:
Now, the great Jonathan Frid, as well as his appearance as Barnabas, has been called many things. Aged? Sure. Weird? Ok, but boyish? Man-childish? This is Barnabas Collins we're talking about, not Pee-Wee Herman. To m…
After two weeks in London (unlike Barnabas, I did actually go there), it's now time to get back to work. I've had a few requests to work on posting episode pics again and am happy to oblige. Right now I'm thinking of focusing on the Anthony George episodes next - starting with his Burke Devlin appearances.
If anyone has any requests, feel free to send them my way :)
I'd like to invite you to read some new fanfic about Willie Loomis, Barnabas, and the early days at the Old House. Please feel free to comment here or at Livejournal. Thanks! I write on Livejournal as Aerdnawrites, the story is called "On Trial." I am having trouble posting a link here, otherwise I would.
Greetings fellow DS fans,
Simon Magus here. I am here to invite all DS fans to join my own DS site. It's called "The Dark Shadows of Simon Magus" and I started it some years ago to house all of my own DS fan fiction. I am a professional writer and the author of "The Shadow of Simon Magus" which you can find on Amazon.com.
But let me tell you a little about my own DS site. First not only are there tons of DS photos and original artwork by members, including my own, but also to my knowledge to only continous on line DS story that is still active and new chapters are added periodically.
Not only is the story original but I have begun creating my own trick photos to illustrate them so you can see new DS photos found no where else in the world.
Here's another little piece of poetry.
To Collinsport comes one from past,
One who could tell the truth.
But she does seek her son at last,
And fights with nail and tooth.
Her entrance causes strife and fear,
And makes a few men doubt.
Roger and Sam are scared that here
The truth at last will out.
Though they are worried and upset,
That’s not Laura’s desire.
Though she and Burke have often met,
She’s more obsessed with fire.
Laura comes back to claim her son,
But David is afraid.
Through clever ways of spells and fun,
The trap for him is laid.
Liz Stoddard tries to block her goals,
But falls into a trance.
Though stress seems to have claimed a toll,
The truth’s not at a glance.
Though deemed insane for many years,
Laura has evil powers.
Losing her son is what sh…
A little piece of poetry that I threw together while stuck at an airport for 11 hours.
Dark house upon a hill does stand,
Untouched by light of day.
Across the lonely, weary land,
Dark shadows ever lay.
Unfeeling night, unending dark,
These things are here to stay.
Cold night has left its dreary mark,
Dawn will not break today.
In house of gloom live ghosts of past,
And devils lie in wait.
No feel of joy or bliss can last,
Escape may come too late.
No peace for those who dwell in night,
And rest they cannot find.
For those who live without the light,
Fear is upon their mind.
The owner of the house does hide
Dark secrets of her own.
For years and years, Liz Stoddard lied,
With sharp, evasive tone.
Her brother has his secrets too.
To prison went a man.
