Prisoner, go.
Everyone second me....
Oh, I take it you've been reading the recent discussion over on Danny's blog about my intention of starting a blog that begins with episode 1. Actually, I'd be going all the way through to 1971 as well -- but starting from the 1966 beginnings. My tentative working title is "Dark Shadows: From the Beginning".
Actually, I would have been happy just to read such a spotlight on those early episodes if only Danny would have agreed to take those up on Dark Shadows Every Day once the series wraps up with episode 1245. I've got ideas on formatting running through my head: For instance, the top of each post would start with an animated GIF image for that episode projecting through the screen of a period television set, say, an RCA, or better still, a Quaaa-sar! Unlike other Dark Shadows blogs, there will be a spotlight on Robert Cobert's soundtrack music, which is as much of a fixture as the stained glass windows atop the Collinwood foyer. I have a YouTube account as well as The Complete Dark Shadows Sountrack Music Collection with all the music cues used throughout the series, which includes the complete guitar instrumentals from the Blue Whale jukebox. So in each post there will a section "Dark Shadows Music Cues Used in This Episode" with a line of YouTube clips each with a complete music track, the original studio recording, without dialogue, etc., from the episode. Since it's difficult, in the abstract subjective sense, to talk about music, this way blog readers will have the option of simply listening to Bob Cobert's music, to better appreciate the enormous contributions the music made to each and every episode.
So, Karl, I appreciate your support. I'm already motivated -- it's something that's been in the back of my mind for some time, however I've only recently learned how to make screen caps. :) Now, I need to learn to make animated GIFs, and maybe ask Danny for some pointers on WordPress formatting.
But, yeah, I'm looking forward to this endeavor. I'm self-employed, I like a daily routine, and I'm not the vacationing type, so I'd be posting five episodes a week, year round, holidays included, though I might take Thanksgiving and Christmas off, the way they did on Dark Shadows itself; otherwise, all other holidays that fall on weekdays, I'd be posting away.
I've got a few books to finish reading first, some couple cast bios and other rare, out-of-print books relating to the show, so I'm thinking I'll be starting this in a few months, sometime in early or mid 2017.
See you there! :)
There's one thing there that was missing after ep 210 a lot.
They wrote jokes into the dialogue and actors delivered actual comedy!
That's what makes the Beginning fascinating for me, apart from sheer acting performances, and if it wasn't for Humbert and Selby,
Humor would have been seldom seen after 210.
Has this started up yet?? I just noticed that Amazon Prime is offering members the first 35 episodes (what they call season 1). It would be great to have your blog!!
Since mid-May. Posts for the first 13 episodes so far:
